I love seafood. Definitely love it!
Unlucky me.. my boy doesn’t love it. He always chooses beef over seafood :(. He hates shrimp and prawn even more. Too bad.
But I don’t give up easily. I was craving for squid, mind you. So, I managed a dish I wished he would give it a try.
Many kinds of herbs & spices involved here :p –> cumin, cardamom, clove, coriander, galangal, turmeric, ginger –> I had been drooling just before the dish was done *LOL*.
I hope you like it. My son? Hum.. he tried a bit and told me that he liked the egg inside, and he could enjoy it but did not love it. 😉
Here’s the recipe, taken from this book. Hey, I’m not an original Indonesian food smart, still need a cheat sheet :D.
500 gr fresh squid, cleaned, skin discarded. insert the tentacles back to the body, secure with toothpicks.
100 ml water
5 garlic cloves
1 tsp roasted coriander
1/2 tsp cumin seed
3 cm turmeric, peeled
3 cm ginger, peeled
50 gr shredded galangal
salt & pepper
add more spices:
4 whole cloves
3 whole cardamom pods
3 kaffir lime leaves
Cook squids, water, and spices on medium low heat until liquid dries up. Set aside. Fry the squids. Enjoy.
